Sleeping on Schedule

Everybody calls me an old lady because I go to sleep before 8pm every night, but there’s something about going to sleep the same time every night that’s good for the soul.

Even without an alarm, every morning I’m up by 5am like clockwork. It may sound crazy, but I appreciate it because I am more likely to feel rested on this sleep schedule than on some random cycle.

Now maybe 8pm is too early for you, but try to pick a time and stick to it. Your body will thank you, I’m sure of it.

Sleeping on a schedule reduces my stress because I am not concerned about missing my alarm clock and not making it to work on time. My body is trained to do what it does the same way at the same time every time.

The more I wake up naturally, the less likely I am to feel groggy and pissed off in the morning.

It’s a beautiful thing. Since I’ve been on a sort of sleep schedule, I’ve noticed less body aches, less anger at having to wake up, and more peace in my mornings.

I may not always wake up perfectly refreshed, but I wake up calm and prepared to do what I have to do each day.

To prepare for my scheduled time to sleep, I turn off the lights, turn off devices, and sometimes I play a meditation on an app to soothe me into slumber. It doesn’t take much, but it makes all the difference.

Try it. Your body will thank you.
